Candlebay Inn

Greetings!

Candlebay Inn, Freeport, Maine
We all know that Freeport is a great weekend getaway for some of the best shopping in the state, but did you know there’s a lot going on during the week, too? The Freeport Village Station—home to many outlets and retail stores—keeps their doors open Monday-Saturday until 9 p.m.

Along with shopping, there are plenty of tours and outdoor activities to take part in. There are views of the rocky Maine coastline, walking trails and some more advanced trails, as well. One of our favorite tours is located right in Freeport, Wilbur’s Chocolates holds factory tours every half hour on Monday and Wednesdays in August. You’ll see the working factory and get taste some of Freeport’s best chocolates!

We, here at Candlebay Inn, don’t have a minimum stay during the week, so feel free to pop in on a whim or when you’re craving chocolate! Our hearty breakfasts will fill you full of energy for whatever lies ahead. Don’t forget that the inn is close enough to walk to and from most of Freeport’s attractions. We can’t wait to welcome you to Candlebay Inn for a week-long getaway or just a night!

Warmest wishes,

Connie Lay, Innkeeper

Featured Guests in July

July featured guests

Isabelle and Miss Murphy—The Cape Cod BTs—and their owners, Judy and Rich, are the featured guests this month. We were delighted they enjoyed their stay with us and we were very thrilled to hear from them once they arrived safely back home.

“The pups and I enjoyed our stay with Candlebay Inn while we were there for Isabelle’s trial in Rally-Obedience in Excellent…getting FIRST place, no less. A nice way to finish her Rally Obedience titles! The trial location was the Cumberland Fairgrounds, only 20 minutes away from the Candlebay Inn so it was the perfect location to stay. Also at the fairgrounds was a dog breed show that surprisingly a friend was entered in and also we saw the trotters practicing, which was a first for us.

In our travels, we just came upon this sweet ‘Dog Gardens,’ which was a partial agility course just meant for people driving by with their dogs to use, with a very minimal fee. I thought it was just charming.

Doggie Gardens

I hope we have another reason to come to Freeport some time and if we do, we’ll absolutely make plans to stay with you again.

Thanks so much for sharing your lovely inn with us.”
